QA Lab Technician 2

Responsibilities

1. Managing and processing laboratory request paperwork

2. Separating product samples for internal or external laboratory testing and generating new laboratory request paperwork, bringing samples to the office and logging out-going samples and coordinating external laboratory pick-up

3. Processing PEC samples and submitting PEC paperwork through the Almond Board Website

4. Processing samples and performing laboratory procedures for Coliforms, Ecoli, Yeast/Mold, Salmonella, Listeria, Peroxide Value, Free Fatty Acid, Enterobacteria, Staphylococcus, Moisture, Aerobic Plate Count

5. Sanitizing and sterilization of the laboratory and tests, using the autoclave, cold press, and centrifuge

6. Processing PEM sample monitoring and paperwork, and taking additional environmental swabs as needed

7. Creating, organizing and filing Laboratory documentation and product sample labels

8. Generating COAs, uploading to Nutware and emailing to required recipients

9. Managing the laboratory sample retention program

10. Sourcing lab tools/equipment, supplies and maintaining weekly inventory, by submitting purchase requests

11. Maintaining equipment maintenance and calibrations of lab equipment

12. Sourcing and maintaining required lab training and providing training to other Laboratory Technicians

1. Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Emails, and Nutware

2. Must be able to Handle Hazardous Chemicals in a safe manner

3. Must be able to use lab equipment and terminology.

4. Must be able to prepare culture media, reagents, and laboratory supplies.

5. Must be able to maintains records and reports.

6. Needs to be a good communicator with all levels of employees.

7. Must be able to analyze and interpret laboratory-based tests.

8. Must be able to recognize errors or discrepancies in the course of performing laboratory and food safety operations and assists in the rectification of the noted problems.

Laboratory Technician

Responsible for the onsite laboratory programs, procedures, documentation, sampling and testing of product, environmental sample processing, out-going laboratory testing, PEC submission, COA submission and reporting.
