About the Role
Hoegg Software is seeking a detail-oriented QA Tester / Quality Assurance Analyst to support public sector software work in Oklahoma. This is a contract role for someone who enjoys testing business applications, finding issues before users do, and helping deliver reliable software for government and public sector clients.
The QA professional will be responsible for testing web-based applications, documenting defects, validating fixes, and supporting release readiness. The ideal candidate is practical, thorough, organized, and comfortable working with both technical and non-technical team members.
Responsibilities
- Create, execute, and maintain test cases based on business and technical requirements
- Identify, document, track, and retest defects using issue-tracking tools
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, managers, and client teams
- Validate application workflows, data accuracy, forms, reports, and system functionality
- Support testing for releases, enhancements, bug fixes, and production deployments
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria to help identify gaps or unclear behavior
- Clearly communicate testing status, risks, blockers, and defect trends
- Help ensure software meets business requirements, usability expectations, and quality standards
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, application testing, or a similar QA role
- Experience testing web applications, enterprise systems, or business workflow applications
- Strong understanding of QA processes, test planning, defect tracking, and regression testing
- Ability to read and interpret requirements, acceptance criteria, and user stories
- Experience using defect tracking or work management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Trello, or similar
- Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on public sector, government, state, municipal, or regulated contracts
- Experience supporting UAT or release validation
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery methods
- Basic SQL skills for data validation
- Experience testing APIs, reports, dashboards, or data-driven applications
- Familiarity with accessibility testing or government software compliance standards is a plus
