QA/QC DIRECTOR

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, author, and maintain the corporate QA/QC Manual, overseeing all amendments, revisions, and distribution of company-wide quality documentation.
  • Establish the strategic vision for the project quality management system and monitor its overall progress and effectiveness, implementing corrective actions and improvements as necessary.
  • Define and communicate corporate quality standards and procedures to all project teams and subcontractors.
  • Lead and perform all internal and external audit programs on behalf of company management to ensure compliance with ISO standards, client requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Monitor all quality-related activities across projects, ensuring adherence to the established
  • Verify that contractor and vendor quality requirements are properly specified and that all submitted documentation is reviewed and approved.
  • Represent the company's quality interests in pre-bid meetings and client quality management meetings, aligning project requirements with all stakeholders.
  • Review and approve all project-specific quality system management documentation prior to project commencement.
  • Oversee the disposition of all nonconformance reports, ensuring timely and effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assess, mentor, and develop the QA/QC team, reviewing personnel qualifications and defining training requirements to ensure a highly skilled workforce.
  • Provide expert guidance to site subcontractors and internal teams on the compilation of quality turnover dossiers and documentation.
  • Ensure the accurate preparation, collation, and management of all quality records, including acceptance certificates, mechanical completion certificates, and as-built documentation.
  • Oversee the resolution of discrepancies between project milestones and quality documentation, considering the implications of any delays and escalating critical issues to senior management.
  • Monitor the status of punch lists and exception lists relevant to quality dossiers, ensuring timely closure.
  • Collaborate closely with the Planning and Scheduling department to align quality milestones, provide progress data for project reporting, and ensure a seamless turnover process.
  • Coordinate with field QA/QC teams and commissioning personnel to resolve inconsistencies in test packages and documentation.
  • Chair and attend key project meetings, including weekly QA/QC and commissioning meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CQE, CRE, Lead Auditor) preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in QA/QC roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level position within a relevant industry (Building Contracting).
  • Expert knowledge of ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards and regulations.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing a corporate-level Quality Management System.
  • Extensive experience leading internal and external audits and interfacing with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and implement high-level process improvements.
