Job Summary:

Determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established standard operating procedure (SOP). Sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results.

Responsibilities:

  1. To prepare and conduct all chemical testing and various analytical testing procedures on samples from all phases (Raw material, Finished Product, In-Process and Packaged product) according to Standard testing procedure (STP).
  2. Prepare accurate daily records and documents that report the results of their lab work.
  3. Adapt, maintain, calibrate, and operate analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, FT-IR, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, Laser diffraction particle size analyzer, Colorimeter, Total Organic Carbon analyzer, Auto-titrator for potentiometric titrations and Karl Fischer moisture analysis, moisture balance, melting point, turbidity meter, and standard lab equipment such as pH meters, balances, etc. and minor trouble shooting of equipment.
  4. Perform safety and housekeeping aspects of the job by following all safety rules, wearing required personal protective equipment, keeping work areas clean during and at completion of tasks, maintaining all workstations and equipment in an orderly and clean fashion.
  5. Responsible for the preparation and review of Standard Operating Procedure or Standard Testing Procedure.
  6. Draft and document routine analytical testing to support raw material and/or product release including, but not limited to stability samples and semi-finished products.
  7. Assist with investigation and documentation for out of spec/nonconforming testing results.
  8. Must be able to work safely and productively in an analytical laboratory. Prepare chemical solutions and bottles used in analyses. Prepare sample kits for shipment to various clients and labs, track shipments to ensure that clients have adequate sampling supplies.
  9. Performs other duties as and when assigned.

Credentials and Experience

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or other Science disciplines.
  2. Recent grad or 2-3 years related production or laboratory experience.
  3. Excellent laboratory skills and ability to demonstrate competency with specific analytical methods.
  4. Familiarity with classic wet chemical and instrumental techniques.
  5. Strong understanding of experimental design, chemical theory, and analytical instrumentation.
  6. Perform routine calculations pertaining to analytical chemistry (e.g., dilution, concentration, test results).
  7. Experience resolving operational or processing failures to understand root cause and able to develop an improvement plan.
  8. Wear appropriate safety equipment, such as safety shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection, wherever these things are necessary.
  9. Excellent computer skills with competency in Microsoft Office suite, Word, and Excel
  10. Ability to work independently.
  11. Ability to accurately and neatly document Quality Assurance and Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures.
  12. Ability to communicate effectively (clearly, concisely, and professionally.)
  13. A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment.

Special/Physical Requirements :

Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing facility where temperatures may fluctuate excessively, as well as work outside in all weather conditions. PPE, safety and specialty equipment are provided to support conditions as necessary.
