Job Description – QA/QC Engineer (Steel Fabrication)

Job Summary

The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining quality assurance and quality control systems for steel fabrication and structural steel projects. The role ensures compliance with project specifications, international codes, client requirements, and company quality standards across fabrication, welding, painting, and erection stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain Project Quality Plans, ITPs, and Method Statements.

• Ensure all fabrication activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

• Review and approve WPS, PQR, MTCs, MIRs, and other quality-related documents.

• Conduct inspections for raw material receiving, cutting, fit-up, welding, painting/coating, and dispatch.

• Monitor welding activities, verify welder qualifications, and coordinate NDT activities (UT, RT, MT, PT).

• Ensure proper implementation of material traceability throughout fabrication and erection.

• Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, and third-party inspection agencies.

• Prepare and submit inspection reports, daily/weekly quality reports, and final dossiers.

• Identify non-conformities, raise NCRs, and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.

• Ensure compliance with international standards such as AWS, ASTM, AISC, ISO, BS, and project-specific codes.

• Support internal and external audits in line with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.

• Provide quality-related guidance to production, engineering, and site teams.

• Ensure calibration and proper use of inspection and testing equipment.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality performance.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

• Minimum 4 years of UAE experience in steel fabrication and structural steel projects.

• Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, and inspection procedures.

• Hands-on experience with NDT coordination and quality documentation.

• Good understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.

• Strong communication and coordination skills with clients and consultants.

• Ability to work independently and under project deadlines.

Preferred Certifications (Advantage)

• CSWIP / AWS Welding Inspector Certification.

• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification.

• BGAS or equivalent coating inspection certification.
