Quality Control Technician
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing routine laboratory tests, inspections, and documentation to ensure that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet company quality standards and comply with FDA and cGMP regulations. This role plays a key part in maintaining product integrity and supporting the facility’s quality system through accurate testing, data recording, and adherence to established procedures.
Essential Job Functions & Duties:
- Conduct testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products according to approved methods and specifications.
- Perform physical, chemical, and organoleptic evaluations to verify product quality and compliance.
- Accurately record test data, maintain lab notebooks, and prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Calibrate and operate laboratory instruments such as balances, pH meters, HPLC, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and moisture analyzers.
- Collect and label samples from production lines following cGMP and sampling procedures.
- Assist in investigating out-of-specification (OOS) or non-conformance results and perform retesting as required.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and compliance within laboratory areas in accordance with 5S and GMP standards.
- Support QC documentation control, inventory of reagents and supplies, and preparation of test solutions.
- Adhere to all safety policies, PPE requirements, and regulatory compliance procedures.
- Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality department.
Required Qualifications & Experince:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a quality control or laboratory role within dietary supplement, nutraceutical, or food manufacturing environments.
- Basic understanding of cGMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 111, and quality documentation standards.
- Experience operating analytical instruments and following written testing procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, and laboratory bench work throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when handling samples or materials.
- Manual dexterity to operate lab instruments and handle delicate materials.
- Extended periods of working with analytical instruments and computers.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses.
