Job Summary
The QS Engineer / Purchaser will be responsible for cost estimation, quantity take-offs, and procurement of materials and services for aluminum, glass, and steel projects. The role combines technical QS responsibilities with purchasing and supplier coordination to ensure projects are priced accurately and delivered within budget and timelines.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuantity Surveying & Estimation
· Prepare detailed BOQs and cost estimates for aluminum, glass, and steel works based on drawings and specifications.
· Perform quantity take-offs for doors, windows, curtain walls, handrails, balustrades, steel structures, ladders, pergolas, and cladding.
· Analyze drawings and identify scope gaps or risks before quoting.
· Support preparation of quotations and pricing using company pricing tools.
· Assist in variation orders, claims, and cost impact assessments.
Procurement & Purchasing
· Source and procure aluminum profiles, glass, accessories, steel, hardware, and consumables.
· Prepare RFQs and negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers.
· Issue LPOs and follow up on order confirmations and deliveries.
· Track procurement status and ensure materials are delivered on time to factory or site.
· Coordinate powder coating, PVD, electroplating, and other finishing services.
Cost Control
· Monitor material costs vs. estimates and report variances.
· Support project cost tracking and budget control.
· Ensure best value procurement without compromising quality.
_ Supplier & Market Management_
· Maintain and develop supplier database for aluminum systems, glass, steel, and accessories.
· Evaluate new suppliers and systems in coordination with management.
· Compare quotations and prepare technical/commercial comparisons.
Coordination & Reporting
· Coordinate with production, site, and design teams on material requirements.
· Provide regular updates on procurement status and risks.
· Maintain records of BOQs, LPOs, delivery notes, and invoices.
Documentation & Compliance
· Ensure all purchases comply with approved specifications.
· Maintain proper documentation for audits and internal controls.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Industrial) or Quantity Surveying.
· Minimum 4 years of experience in QS and/or procurement within aluminum, glass, and steel works in the UAE.
· Strong background in aluminum systems (doors, windows, facades) and steel fabrication is essential.
· Experience with villas and fit-out projects is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
· Excellent knowledge of aluminum profiles, glass types, steel sections, and accessories.
· Strong BOQ preparation and quantity take-off skills.
· Proficient in AutoCAD (for reading drawings) and Excel (for BOQs, comparisons).
· Familiar with powder coating, PVD, anodizing, and glass specifications.
· Understanding of UAE market suppliers (e.g., Alumil, glass processors, steel yards).
Soft Skills
· Strong negotiation and communication skills.
· High attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to manage multiple RFQs and tight deadlines.
· Commercial awareness and cost-focused mindset.
Team player with proactive attitude.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to AED6,000.00 per month
