Qualified/Trainee Dental Nurse

Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and motivated Qualified or Trainee Dental Nurse to join our busy and welcoming dental practice. This is a dual-role position combining chairside nursing duties with front-of-house reception responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide excellent patient care, support clinicians during treatments, and assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

This role is ideal for either:

  • A qualified dental nurse registered with the GDC, or
  • A trainee dental nurse currently enrolled on an approved dental nursing course

Previous dental reception experience is highly desirable

Dental Nursing Duties

  • Assist dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures
  • Prepare and sterilise instruments and treatment rooms in line with HTM 01-05 standards
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes
  • Provide reassurance and support to patients before, during, and after treatment
  • Ensure cross-infection control procedures are followed at all times
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of dental materials and equipment
  • Take responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment

Reception Duties

  • Welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner
  • Manage appointment bookings and diary coordination
  • Answer telephone and email enquiries efficiently
  • Process payments and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Handle patient records and update practice management systems
  • Support with recalls, follow-ups, and administrative tasks
  • Assist in maintaining a smooth patient journey and positive patient experience

Qualifications

  • recognised qualification in dental nursing or actively undertaking training towards certification
  • Experience in patient care within a dental setting is desirable but not essential for trainees
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to reassure and inform patients effectively
  • Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in IT systems used for record keeping and appointment management
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written, to ensure clear communication with patients and team members
  • A caring attitude with a genuine interest in providing high-quality patient care

Pay: From £12.71 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Calcot RG31 5DG: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
