Sugar River Cold Storage is seeking a proactive, detail‑driven Quality and Compliancemanager to lead our facility’s food safety and regulatory compliance programs. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our SQF Program, Food Safety Plans, and all supporting systems that ensure our products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced warehouse environment and is passionate about building a strong food safety culture.
- Serve as the primary SQF Practitioner for the facility.
- Maintain and continuously improve the SQF System, ensuring compliance with all SQF Code requirements.
- Lead internal audits, verification activities, and annual program reviews.
- Prepare the facility for SQF certification and surveillance audits, including coordination with auditors and regulatory agencies.
- Train employees on SQF policies, procedures, and best practices.
Food Safety Plan Oversight
- Develop, implement, and maintain the facility’s Food Safety Plans, including HACCP, Preventive Controls, and prerequisite programs.
- Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments to ensure robust preventive controls.
- Oversee validation and verification activities for all food safety systems.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and audit‑ready at all times.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA (if applicable), FSMA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Monitor regulatory updates and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
- Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and follow‑up actions.
Training & Culture Building
- Develop and deliver food safety and GMP training for all employees.
- Promote a strong food safety culture through coaching, communication, and accountability.
- Partner with operations, quality, and leadership teams to reinforce best practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead root cause analyses and corrective action processes for food safety incidents or non‑conformances.
- Analyze trends in environmental monitoring, customer complaints, and internal audits to drive improvements.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to enhance processes, reduce risk, and improve product safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- SQF Practitioner certification required or ability to obtain.
- HACCP certification required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, or food safety management.
- Strong knowledge of FSMA, GMPs, HACCP, and Preventive Controls.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead with influence.
