Basic Purpose
Under limited supervision, supports Quality activities through involvement and responsibilities in APQP, PPAP preparation, continuous improvement activities, supplier performance monitoring, OMDS and supplier problem management.
Minimum Position Specifications
Associate's Degree or 3 year’s experience in a position in a position of similar responsibilities and job knowledge. Mechanical and Mathematical aptitude.
Minimum Training Requirements
Internal auditor training, AIAG Core Tools Training, IMDS Training, GD & T Training, Problem Solving training.
Physical Requirements
Ability to move freely around the plant. Computer – eyestrain and wrist strain.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary contact for customer issues. Work with engineering and operations teams to resolve customer quality issues.
- Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance. Communicate with suppliers to ensure that corrective actions are received, and action plans are developed, implemented and maintained.
- Leads Root cause analysis and implements Corrective and Preventive actions for both internal and external issues.
- Perform quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to identify non-conforming items and potential defects.
- Travel to customer and supplier sites to discuss quality issues and/or conduct onsite audits.
- In the absence of the Quality Manager, directs and manages Quality Department activities.
- Participate in APQP meetings.
- Prepares PPAPs for new parts, product or process changes and annual recertifications as required.
- Proficient with the ERP system module.
- Supports in developing inspection plans, testing methods, and quality standard for products.
- Assists in the development of control plans, PFMEA's, and checksheets.
- Monitor adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other software packages.
- Participates in and/or conducts Engineering Changes ECN’s.
- Complies with all plant and environmental safety concepts.
- Participates in ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 process, supporting document and overview training.
- Understands our Environmental Policy, our significant environmental aspects, their contribution to our Environmental Management System and the implications of not conforming to the Environmental Management System.
- Understands our Quality Policy, our relevant quality objectives, their contribution to the effectiveness of our Quality Management System and the implications of not conforming to our Quality Management System.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to the Quality Manager. Interacts regularly with all plant personnel.
