Job Summary:
Assure consistent food safety and quality of production by developing and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), HACCP, and other food safety systems as applicable.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure food safety and quality guidelines are followed by all team members
- Train, orient, monitor Quality Assurance employees as to product safety and quality
- Plan, assign, schedule and adjust QC staff accordingly
- Train, orient, monitor Sanitation personnel and operations of facility and grounds through management of Pest Control and Waste Management Programs/Vendors
- Monitor and verify that all products entering and exiting the facility meet food safety and quality standards
- Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by preparing and completing action plans; conduct facility inspections and manage third party audits, determining system improvements; implementing change. Advise Senior Management staff of any quality control and food safety issues in addition to presenting plausible solutions.
- Develop and maintain procedures which assure product and service quality including ingredient and packaging control, product testing and clearance, product disposition system and rework control, Hold and Release Program, HACCP, weight control and other manufacturing procedures
- Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures. Provide technical support and direction to the plant to address process improvements and customer complaint Corrective Actions.
- Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, and re-validations.
- Update job knowledge by: studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; participating in professional organizations, etc.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Possess the ability to work alone and in a team environment
- Act as the primary technical liaison with customers vendors and regulatory agencies such as FDA, USDA or any other local regulatory body
Job Specifications:
Knowledge of HACCP (certification required), GMP's, & Local and Federal regulations for food products. Have ability to make sound, educated decisions in a timely manner. Emphasize excellence, and demonstrate attention to detail and thoroughness. Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn other software applications. Bilingual communication (verbal & written) a plus but not required. Strong, oral and written communication skills; leadership and teamwork skills. Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field (Preferred). 3-5 years of experience within a Quality Role (Required). 3-5 years of experience with Sanitation
