Job Summary
The Quality Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining the calibration program and also serves as the MRB Coordinator. Responsibility for the calibration program includes scheduling, coordinating, and documenting all calibration and equipment maintenance activities. They ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards, maintain accurate records, including the process for the recall of monitoring and measuring equipment requiring calibration or verification, and serve as the liaison between internal departments and calibration vendors. This position also serves as the MRB Coordinator and is responsible for driving DMR (Defect Material Reports) to disposition and then reaching out to vendors for credit/RMA (return material Authorizations) when applicable.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan & oversee daily calibration activities across departments, minimizing equipment downtime.
- Calibrate and track calibration of hand tools under appropriate environmental conditions.
- Database maintenance including description, location, frequency, and calibration status of listed equipment.
- Assign and track assignment of hand tools to Assemblers.
- Coordinate both on-site and off-site calibration work with third party vendors, ensuring smooth execution.
- Maintain & update calibration records, certificates, and labels including status, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Review & approve calibration certificates, promptly report out of tolerance findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Track and manage calibration equipment inventory; identify stock shortages and place orders for parts or new instruments.
- Track tool warranty expiration.
- Manage approved Company vendor relationships - solicit quotes, coordinate RFQs/POs, supervise vendor audits, and ensure they meet compliance procedures.
- Support audits, assist with corrective actions, and ensure adherence to ISO, AS9100, OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Assist in development and improvement of the calibration process.
- Coordinate with engineers for disposition of suspected defective materials.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and vendors for credits and RMA.
- Ensure ERP is kept up to date on DMRs.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Skills and/or Experience Needed
- High school degree; some college and/or trade school classes a plus.
- High proficiency in computers and ability to manage computer databases.
- A minimum of 2 years of mechanical tools and equipment use experience and/or certified calibration training, is preferred.
- Ability to use common shop measuring equipment.
- Must have excellent English speaking, reading, and writing skills and have the ability to clearly communicate in English; have the ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
- The ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering prints, drawings, and sketches and a good working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred.
Language Skills
- Interpersonal skills to effectively work with ThinKom people internally as well as working effectively with suppliers and customers.
- Ability to communicate with auditors and customers regarding job responsibilities.

- Must have substantial problem-solving abilities.
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/subcontracts.
- Will be required to obtain a Calibration Certification within 3 months of start.
Physical Demands
- This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data.
- This position may be subject to frequent or occasional on the job interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus.
- This position will likely be subject to random drug testing as part of the Company’s FAA certified Drug Testing plan, required for FAA Part 145 repair stations.
- While performing duties of this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend.
- May occasionally be required to lift, push, or pull a maximum of 50 lbs.
- May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours.
- Must be able to work in an environment that may be subject to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials and chemicals.
