Role Overview
The Quality Manager is responsible for safeguarding product quality across all stages of production by controlling three core pillars- Information , Raw Material , and Manpower . This role ensures that every style meets defined quality standards before, during, and after production.
The Quality Manager works closely with sampling, R&D, production, and QC teams to prevent defects, train manpower, and ensure strict adherence to SOPs and inspection protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Information Management
• Conduct in-depth style studies with the sampling department to identify critical quality areas before production.
• Oversee pattern quality and fit to ensure accuracy before bulk production.
• Collaborate with R&D and sampling teams to track buyer comments and integrate them into production preparation.
• Drive zero-point control: ensuring style understanding and potential risk areas are addressed at the sampling stage to prevent failures in bulk production.
• Ensure timely PPM (Pre-Production Meetings) with production teams to communicate quality checkpoints and handling protocols for each style.
2. Raw Material Quality Control
• Track and review fabric inspection reports and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Address fabric issues such as high shrinkage or defects by recommending pattern adjustments, washes, or alternative solutions.
• Monitor accessories (brooches, laces, marking tools, etc.) for quality compliance before issuance to production.
• Coordinate with stores to ensure only approved materials are released for production.
3. Manpower Training & QC Oversight
• Assess the performance and capability of QCs across departments (inline, finishing, packing, layering, recutting, panel checking).
• Provide training and guidance to QCs, tailors, checkers, and other key manpower to improve quality standards.
• Monitor QC accountability to ensure all inspection steps are completed and no checkpoints are skipped.
• Maintain oversight of both in-house QCs and outhouse QCs at job worker units.
4. Quality Compliance & Problem-Solving
• Implement preventive measures to avoid major quality issues.
• Address quality-related problems immediately, identify root causes, and create solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure consistent monitoring of multiple styles running across different production stages simultaneously.
5. Fabric & Style Handling Protocols
• Develop and enforce handling procedures based on fabric characteristics (e.g., needle size, machine speed, glove use for satin to prevent stains).
• Prepare teams for special handling requirements of critical styles before production begins.
Skills & Qualifications
• Minimum 7–10 years of quality management experience in the garment/textile industry.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern-making, and quality control processes, especially for Women's high fashion dresses in fabrics such as Chiffon and Satin.
• Experience managing QC teams and implementing SOPs.
• Analytical and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
• Strong leadership, training, and team-coordination skills.
• Excel and Google Sheets.
Key Competencies
• Attention to Detail – Identifies and addresses quality risks proactively.
• Accountability – Ensures QC protocols are followed without compromise.
• Leadership – Trains, motivates, and monitors QC and production teams.
• Preventive Thinking – Focuses on root cause elimination rather than repetitive problem-solving.
