Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient QA to lead the implementation and maintenance of our IAS AC472 accreditation at our new steel manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will establish a culture of "Quality First," ensuring that every structural component leaving our shop meets or exceeds AISC, MBMA, and AWS standards.
Key Responsibilities
- IAS AC472 Compliance: Act as the primary point of contact for IAS auditors. Maintain the Quality Manual and ensure all "Principal Departmental Supervisors" (Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement) follow the established Quality Management System (QMS).
- Traceability & Record Keeping: Manage the flow of Mill Test Reports (MTRs) from procurement through final shipping. Ensure all raw materials (plate, coil, bolts) are tracked and matched to specific projects.
- Welding Program Oversight: Work alongside the Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to verify welder qualifications (WPQR/WQR) and ensure all welding procedures (WPS) comply with AWS D1.1 and D1.3.
- Equipment Calibration: Maintain a rigorous schedule for calibrating measuring tools, welding machines, and CNC fabrication equipment.
- Internal Audits: Conduct semi-annual internal audits of the engineering, detailing, and fabrication departments to identify and correct non-conformances before official IAS inspections.
- Software Integration: Utilize ERP/MES tools (e.g., Tekla PowerFab, JobTread) to digitize quality records and streamline the "Chain of Custody" for all steel components.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in structural steel fabrication or Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) manufacturing.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of MBMA (Metal Building Manufacturers Association) standards and IBC Chapter 17 requirements.
- Certification: AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) is highly preferred. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AISC Certification programs is a plus.
