Quality Assurance Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for supporting the QA Manager in overseeing food safety and quality programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity, training QA personnel, and supporting cross-functional teams in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.


Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the QA Manager in overseeing food safety, quality systems, and daily operations across the facility
  • Partner with QA, R&D, and Production teams to ensure compliance with SOPs, GMPs, HACCP, and SQF standards
  • Train, coach, and audit QA Technicians and production staff on food safety and quality procedures
  • Review and analyze QA test results, documentation, and trends; initiate and drive corrective actions
  • Manage key programs including Hold/Release, Food Defense, Pest Control, Sanitation, and Environmental Monitoring
  • Lead and support internal and external audits , ensuring readiness and compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the QA function and across operations
  • Coordinate with Production on changeovers, shutdowns, and overall quality execution
  • Troubleshoot QA lab equipment and ensure proper calibration and maintenance
  • Serve as SQF Practitioner and PCQI in the absence of the QA Manager
  • Act as a backup for QA staff as needed and support overall team operations


Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift, pull, and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to move around operations area and outside facilities to perform job functions.


Qualifications:

  • Food Safety certifications include HACCP, PCQI, GFSI, Food Defense, Internal Auditing, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • 3-5 years of QA experience in a food processing operation.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Skilled in operating quality control equipment and performing lab testing.
  • Strong communication skills: ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Capable of conducting employee training and interpreting quality documentation.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety eyewear, protective clothing, hair net, and gloves are required.
  • Additional PPE may be required depending on tasks and location within the facility.
