Quality Assurance Technician (Packaging)
(1st shift 5:00 am- 3:30 pm Monday-Thursday, overtime Friday requirements)

What We Need:
  • We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to support efforts to maintain the highest quality standards for all of our products. The QA Technician will ensure all Quality standards are being met on the production floor with Packaging.
What You Will Do:
  • Inspect and document all quality assurance facility activities that take place on the production floor and report any discrepancies to the Quality Assurance Manager, involving cross-functional team members as needed.
  • Verify all personnel are wearing appropriate uniforms and required GMP and safety items.
  • Verify the correctness of: glass, case, cap, celon and labels per schedule and packing slip by material number and specification. Check each batch and every 20 minutes for cap security/vacuum and continued accuracy.
  • Verify with filler operator correct product, pack temperature and weight. Check each batch and every 20 minutes.
  • Verify lot codes into bottle and case coders are inputted correctly per schedule and packing slip. Verify on packaging spec data. Check UPC symbols. Check each batch and every 20 minutes.
  • Verify correct palletizing, tag information and label integrity at palletizer station.
  • Immediately take action for ANY product or packaging falling out of specification. Place on hold any items not meeting the required specification and report to Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Collect 1 bottle of each ID# for comparison sample, 2 from each batch for 24hour & retains.
  • Collect customer required samples.
  • Document findings in formal report to departmental Leads, Supervisors and Manager.
  • Inspects and approves outgoing completed product aligned with proper inspection procedures, product specifications, transportation requirements, and food safety regulations.
  • Maintains measurement and testing equipment in operational condition on the shop floor, reporting any issues.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, including compliance with FDA, USDA, and company policies.
  • Follow Company SOPs and assure that appropriate department involvement takes place as needed, i.e. calling for maintenance to support machine issues that may affect quality or food safety and notifying Production Leadership assuring cross-functional involvement.
  • Any issues that are found where food safety or quality assurance is out of compliance must be addressed with corrective actions implemented in real time where possible, or a product hold, with involvement and escalation to the Quality Assurance Lead, Quality Assurance Manager and Production Team Leadership.
  • The employee constantly works in plant and production areas and is required to communicate with supervisors and operations employees, in a professional and effective manner.
What You Need:
  • High school diploma: associate degree or bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or microbiology preferred.
  • Experience with HACCP, USDA, and FDA standards.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance measuring, and testing equipment preferred.
  • Understanding of SSOP and sanitation verification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems preferred.
