Quality Control Engineer

Watania Steel is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to join our Quality Team. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in steel rolling mill quality control, with strong expertise in mechanical and metallurgical testing to ensure the highest standards of product excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect raw materials (billets) and rolled products (TMT rebars, wire rods) during and after production.
• Conduct mechanical testing including yield strength (YS), ultimate tensile strength (UTS), elongation (%EL), bend and re-bend tests, rebar rib geometry measurement, and wire rod coil size & ovality measurement.
• Monitor and maintain product quality throughout the rolling mill processes.
• Collect samples and coordinate with third-party laboratories for SASO and UK CARES certification testing.
• Collaborate closely with production and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow and consistent product quality.
• Address quality-related issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results and testing data using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in quality control within the steel rolling mill industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical testing methods.
• Familiarity with SASO and UK CARES certification standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork, and commitment to quality and safety.
• Professional certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or equivalent are preferred.
• English language proficiency (written and spoken)
