Quality Control Inspector

Summary

Responsible for following through on quality processes, maintaining quality related documentation, assisting in investigation of customer complaints, and escalating quality issues. Ensures products, materials, and components meet established quality standards and specifications by performing tests, measurements, and inspections. Verifies incoming materials, in-process production, and final products, documenting results while identifying defects to prevent non-conforming goods from shipping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Inspection & Testing: Conduct visual and physical examinations of raw materials, in-process components, and finished goods to identify defects, deviations, or non-conformities.

· Measurement: Use precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify that product dimensions match engineering blueprints or technical specifications.

· Documentation: Record detailed inspection results, including pass/fail rates, quantities inspected, and specific measurements, often inputting this data into a quality database.

· Defect Management: Reject and segregate non-conforming materials; communicate these findings to production supervisors to trigger corrective actions or process adjustments.

· Other duties as assigned

Competencies

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent along with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing QC role.
• Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Familiarity with ISO 9001, operating experience with ROMER or FARO Arms, PPAP process, and 1st Article experience.
• Analytical Ability: Capable of performing root cause analysis to identify why a defect occurred and recommending ways to improve the production process.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and lift or maneuver heavy materials (often up to 50 lbs.)
