Primary SQF practitioner. Responsible for audit prep and performance.
Responsible for management of the QC lab, including training, coaching, scheduling of lab employees.
Maintaining organization of all regulatory, customer, and third-party inspections.
Maintaining organization of the laboratory supplies, ingredients, documents.
Review/sign-off on daily production records and QC documentation.
Review and approve updates, modifications or changes in the procedures to batch sheets.
Assist R&D with ingredient documentation when needed for claims purposes (organic, gluten free, etc.).
Communicate directives and provide instruction to production employees in sanitation, GMPs, food safety, and quality control.
QA checks throughout the warehouse and processing areas for compliance to SOPs and GMPS.
Providing supervision of sanitation procedures and methods.
Generating technical reports in support of production and other departments as needed.
Routine and non-routine laboratory testing to support production activities.
Assisting in the completion and implementation of finished product specifications.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to Director or VP of Quality.
Additional Responsibilities:
Major role in writing, and implementing food safety, security, HACCP, environmental, and quality programs and policies.
Ensuring compliance with all group systems, guidelines & policies of private label and co-packers.
Maintain knowledge of food safety, HACCP, current industry issues, and innovative technology regarding food and packaging products.
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing food products, including FSMA.
Actively participate in FSQA/compliance-based professional groups and associations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in science-related field. Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum 5-10+ years of experience in quality, food safety & environmental systems and management.
SQF Practitioner
PCQI Certified
Lead and internal auditor, food safety, HACCP, training.
Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with all levels within the organization and with suppliers.
Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Other:
Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
