The Quality Control Technician is responsible for capturing sensory, analytical, physical, and microbial data to support the manufacture of Safe Quality Foods (SQF). This role partners cross-functionally to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Ensure product conformance to specifications through testing and inspection.
Verify HACCP preventive controls/CCPs and sanitation readiness during production.
Coordinate 3rd-party lab testing and support investigations and continuous improvement.
Evaluate in-house and co-manufactured products using approved sensory and analytical methods to ensure conformance to specification.
Inspect production line start-up, ingredients, and packaging conformance per current SOPs.
Verify preventive and critical control points (CCPs) for each manufacturing line during production per current HACCP plan.
Verify, test, and approve production equipment for proper cleaning and sanitation prior to changeovers; direct cleaning as necessary and escalate failures.
Support consumer complaint investigations by evaluating product and reviewing documentation.
Collect samples and coordinate 3rd-party lab testing; record and report results to supervisor/QA leadership.
Carry out and moderate panel tastings as needed.
Support continuous improvement efforts (e.g., LSS projects), training, and other duties as assigned.
Works cross-functionally with plant management, production, regulatory, purchasing, and co-packers to maintain quality and food safety compliance across manufacturing lines. This role supports investigations, sampling, and documentation to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to SQF/HACCP requirements.
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Food Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2–3 years’ experience in food or pharmaceutical production required; QA/QC experience preferred.
Working knowledge of HACCP, SQF, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; team oriented.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
