Quality Control Tech (Produce) QC QA

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of produce using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and vision inspection systems to verify size, weight, appearance, and overall quality.
  • Responsible for conducting product testing, updating product testing excel spreadsheet and taking samples to the lab, recording results and corrective actions if needed. Maintains sales department updated on products that have been cleared for product tests.
  • Responsible for performing sanitation verification on equipment and other areas required.
  • Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant record logs and documentation.
  • Perform inspections on Products, Equipment and Machinery.
  • Complete necessary microbiological testing (internal testing) as assigned such as In-house ATP.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of HACCP (hazard analysis critical control points), CGMP (current good manufacturing practices), and FDA regulations related to food safety.
  • Experience operating precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, vision inspection systems, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Knowledge of quality control techniques including visual inspection, measurement analysis, and defect detection.
  • Ability to perform detailed data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting findings clearly and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The work environment is cold from 45 degrees to 55 degrees

  • Finger use. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand

  • Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles
  • The employee must regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand on cement for over 80% of the daily job tasks
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb and walk on cement ground and step over obstacles.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Climbing. Ascending or descending stairs.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Vision. Ability to distinguish colors accurately.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years’ experience in Food Safety & Quality control, manufacturing setting required; produce experience preferred
  • AA in agriculture, food safety, or equivalent

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
