Quality Control Technician

Job Summary
Pacific Aggregates is seeking an Aggregates Testing Technician to perform daily quality control testing of sand and gravel products. This position supports production and shipping operations by ensuring aggregates meet Caltrans, ACI, and ASTM specifications. The technician will report directly to the Technical Services Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field and laboratory testing of sand and gravel aggregates in accordance with Caltrans, ACI, and ASTM standards
• Sample production and shipping materials from plants and stockpiles
• Conduct aggregate tests including gradation, sand equivalent, moisture content, specific gravity, absorption, and other required quality tests
• Accurately record, report, and maintain testing data and QC documentation
• Communicate material compliance and quality issues to the Technical Services Manager and operations staff
• Assist with investigation and correction of material quality issues
• Maintain testing equipment, laboratory areas, and calibration records
• Support agency, customer, and internal audits as required
• Follow all company safety policies and Cal/OSHA and MSHA requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Caltrans JTCP Soils and Aggregates certification and/or ACI Aggregate Testing Technician or ACI Laboratory certification preferred
• Knowledge of Caltrans aggregate specifications and ASTM/ACI test methods
• Prior experience in aggregates, ready-mix, or construction materials testing preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document test results
• Ability to perform physical work in outdoor plant and quarry environments
• Basic computer skills (Excel or testing software preferred)
• Valid California driver’s license

Work Environment

• Combination of outdoor plant work and indoor laboratory testing
• Exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions
• Use of required PPE at all times
