Quality Engineer

BearCat Manufacturing manufacture a wide range of equipment that serves the asphalt roadbuilding industry.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Quality Engineer to support our road maintenance equipment manufacturing operations. In this role, you will ensure product quality from design through production and into the field, driving improvements in reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, procedures, and documentation aligned with ISO 9001 and company standards.

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) initiatives for internal issues, supplier non-conformances, and customer warranty claims.

  • Review warranty and field performance data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for product improvement.

  • Collaborate with Engineering to integrate warranty findings into new product design, validation, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by creating PFMEAs, control plans, and validation test plans.

  • Drive supplier quality management, including audits, incoming inspection requirements, and corrective actions.

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

  • Maintain accurate and timely quality metrics, reports, and dashboards for leadership review.

  • Provide training and coaching to production teams on quality tools, problem-solving, and best practices.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Service teams to deliver durable, field-ready equipment that meets customer expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3–5 years of Quality Engineering experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial manufacturing.

  • Hands-on experience with warranty data management, failure analysis, and field issue resolution.

  • Strong understanding of quality methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices (Green Belt a plus).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing discussions.

  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
