Professional Engineering position for an individual with a background in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/BSMET) to assist in measurement and improvement of product quality and performance. Job requires a self-motivated, assertive, technical professional whose abilities include good organization skills, detail-orientation, creativity, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge and experience with machining equipment and processes.
- 
Must have the ability to collect, interpret and analyze quality data in an accurate, thorough, and efficient manner.

Must have the ability to read, interpret and evaluate part/material prints.
- 
Effectively develop supplier communication processes, while coaching and assisting suppliers in root cause corrective actions and process improvement initiatives.
- 
Develop and maintain inspection procedures for Receiving Inspection, and the manufacturing of supplied components.
- 
Participate in the assessment and selection of key suppliers.
- 
Perform, evaluate, and approve first piece article inspections.
- 
Work with manufacturing team to resolve issues affecting product quality.
- 
Initiate/perform critical shipment inspections/containments to protect Liberty Pumps customers.
- 
Become familiar with the Liberty Pumps Product Engineering Project Design and Development procedures and all of the concepts therein.
- 
Become familiar with Liberty Pumps product line and their respective markets.
- 
Understand the Liberty Pumps Quality statement and incorporate it into his/her skill set for product design and development.
- 
Become familiar with the Liberty Pumps ISO 9001 Forms and Work Instructions as they pertain to Product Design, Product Improvement, Product Assembly, Quality Documentation process and project tracking.

Become familiar with Liberty Pumps manufacturing process capabilities and assembly methods.
- 
Work with Product Development Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to develop new assembly processes and improve existing processes.
- 
Maintain awareness of vendor, manufacturing, and field quality performance, and incorporate countermeasures for new product designs.
- 
Develop and maintain an open, professional working relationship with all internal and external Liberty Pumps departments, individuals and suppliers.
- 
Become familiar with and/or willing to learn basic engineering techniques and skills including teamwork, group presentations, project timelines, developing experiments and brainstorming techniques.
- 
Maintain a strong engineering skill base and awareness of industry trends through trade journals, professional technical classes, seminars, etc.
- 
Assist in directing the efforts of the Quality Engineering Coop Students with the guidance of the Quality Manager.
- 
Participate in various development and systematic improvement efforts.
- 
Become familiar with all Liberty processes required for tracking projects, documents, etc.
- 
You will be expected to operate according to ISO 9001 requirements.

Held responsible and accountable to follow safety guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area and use good safety judgement. Expected to report all unsafe activities and conditions to Supervisor and/or Safety & Occupational Health Specialist.
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience required.
- Knowledge and experience with machining equipment and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Handle multiple projects simultaneously. Willing to work in a team environment and familiar with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
- Self-motivated, capable of taking direction as well as working with minimal supervision, and able to mentor others. Strong set of maintained measurement/inspection skills. Familiar with concurrent engineering techniques, root cause corrective action analysis, design of experiments, design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA). Skilled at multitasking, and assertive.
Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily production/technical nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials. Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation. Moderate noise level.
