Wauseon Machine is looking to add a Quality Engineer to our Precision Machining team.

- Shift is flexible (8a-5p OR 7a - 4p).

Quality Engineer Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for process procedures, quality manuals, and APQP/QMS discipline.
- Ensure products meet the customer quality specifications and GDT.
- Generate and manage PPAPS, Control Plans, FEMA, Gage R&R as applicable.
- Support the estimating and operations teams by providing analysis and expertise with respect to capabilities and final inspection.
- Identify and facilitate problem resolution for internal and external (customer and supplier) non-conformances. Determine the root causes and implement corrective actions and prevention through use of 8D and 5 whys.
- Eliminate process variation by creating, revising, and implementing a set of tightly and precisely defined procedures or quality standards that when followed, ensure the final quality of the product.
- Creation and maintenance of quality documentation and SOPs in accordance with our Quality Management System (QMS).
- Lead, plan, and audit the Layered Process Audits (LPA) in accordance with our Quality Management System (QMS).
- Responsible for accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.
- Statistical analysis of manufacturing data and creation of reports based on quality documentation.
- Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality and verify products meet customer requirements.
- Work with teams and departments to improve products and processes.
- Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.
- Complete supplier and performance audits to enhance process.
- Support purchasing and operations leadership with supplier development & supplier qualification initiatives.
- Implement supplier improvement plans and walk alongside to help them improve using lean statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques.
- Maintain detailed reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or commensurate experience.
- 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or similar role.
- Experience with and understanding of ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR.
- Experience assisting with supplier quality issues.
- Ability to rigorously assess and analyze customer, supplier, and vendor data along with internal metrics and drive continuous improvement.
- Advanced knowledge of machining and production processes (lathe, mill, grind, etc.).
- Experience with quality measurement tools and systems (preferred).
- Experience with statistical analysis, design of experiments, and lean manufacturing (preferred).
- ASQ certification (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
