Job Overview
We are seeking an IPC Certified Quality Inspector to join our quality assurance team. The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspection of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), cable and wire harness assemblies, and box-build products to ensure conformance with IPC standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements. This role is critical to maintaining the high level of workmanship our customers expect and to supporting a culture of continuous improvement on the production floor.
Duties
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection of PCBAs, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and mechanical assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, IPC J-STD-001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct first-article, in-process, and final inspections, documenting results in the quality management system (QMS).
- Identify, classify, and document defects accurately, distinguishing between process indicators, defects, and rejects per the applicable IPC class (Class 1, 2, or 3).
- Operate inspection equipment including magnification systems, microscopes, calipers, micrometers, AOI, SPI, and X-ray inspection systems.
- Review work orders, assembly drawings, BOMs, schematics, and customer specifications to confirm build accuracy and revision control.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and manufacturing teams to investigate root causes of recurring defects and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Provide guidance and feedback to operators and assemblers on IPC workmanship standards and acceptance criteria.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610.
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience in an electronics manufacturing (EMS) environment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, engineering change orders (ECOs), and customer specifications.
- Working knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 (Soldering Requirements) and inspection criteria for Class 2 and Class 3 assemblies.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and the ability to make consistent, repeatable quality judgments.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document defects and findings.
- Familiarity with ESD handling procedures
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report findings clearly.
- Due to the nature of our work, including potential ITAR-controlled programs, applicants must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
Not Required but a Plus
- Hand soldering or rework experience.
- Experience working in an AS9100, ISO 9001, or ITAR-regulated environment.
- Current IPC-A-610 certification.
- Bi-Lingual (English/Vietnamese) a plus.
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
