Summary:
Provide quality engineering support for the metrology department by creating and standardizing processes and systems to achieve core lab deliverables. Design and execute rigorous methods for qualification, documentation and ongoing control of: software, inspection programs, inspection fixtures, inspection equipment, gage calibration, control of records, inspection sample identification and inspection sample traceability.
Education/Experience:
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Science or related field
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of calibration procedures and techniques, first article inspection, GD&T, MSA
- Engineering print reading ability, specification interpretation
- Skilled in the use of 3D CAD software
- Inspection programming with MicroVu, PCDMIS, CALYPSO, Keyence
- Strong Technical Writing Skills
- Quality Engineering Statistical Knowledge
- Strong computer skills and ability to work within many software packages
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Desired experience within ISO 9001/13485 and 21 CFR Part 820 environments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, standardize, document, train others to and monitor processes and methods used for the visibility, execution, measurement and reporting of core lab deliverables
- Maintain equipment calibration program, including coordinating with internal customers and external vendors to assure compliance and timely calibration supporting operations.
- Design and build bespoke inspection fixtures
- Create, qualify, report and control well-designed inspection methods
- Perform Statistical Analysis in Minitab
- For new and existing measurement methods and inspection requests:
- Work with CCT members to ensure inspection requirements are clear and necessary
- Remove unnecessary components or processes that do not contribute to the final requirements
- Focus on reducing complexity and improving overall design
- Develop methods to execute processes quickly, consistently, accurately & compliantly
- Use AI, mechanical or other electronic methods to automate repetitive tasks
- Occasionally perform various inspection functions including FAI, gage R&R studies and related inspection activities
- Proactively improve skills, implement training (when applicable) and mentor support personnel for improving standardization.
- Participate and lead process improvement teams (Kaizen, Hoshin)
- Support and comply with company ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and ISO 14001 Policies and Procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Perform all other duties as assigned
