This position is responsible for managing all facets of the Quality Department. Responsible for maintaining quality and environmental systems. Maintain customer and supplier communications. Trains, establishes work assignments, reviews performance and disciplines employees. Assures adherence to operating standards as they affect equipment schedules, quality, labor and materials, budget plans and personnel. Work is guided by established company policy and quality requirements of both the Quality & Environmental Management System and customer expectations. Serves as the designated Environmental Management Representative (EMR) and is responsible for ensuring the EMS is functional and for reporting on the status of the EMS to top management. Work involves direction or supervision of other employees. Reports to the Vice President of Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires comprehensive knowledge of best Quality practices and functional Manufacturing and Quality systems. Must possess extensive experience with ISO/IATF certification programs. Must participate in AIAG industry standards training programs. Position requires a bachelor’s degree.
DUTIES:
- Develop department goals and objectives
- Follow up on all customer, quality or personnel problems
- Perform Supplier Quality Audits
- Ensure adequate resources are designated to maintain EMS
- Responsible for preparation of all sample submissions and forward sample approval forms to appropriate staff
- Issue, distribute and maintain records of corrective actions, defective material reports and return material authorizations in response to customer complaints
- Manage internal corrective action program and issue corrective actions as appropriate
- Specify the required quality capability of new production devices directly affecting quality, i.e. equipment, tools, dies, fixtures, etc.
- Manage and participate in customer complaints, rejection analysis and corrective actions. Analyze, identify basic causes and recommend solutions.
- Instruct, lead and manage all Quality Department activities
- Participate in formulating and administering company policies, procedures and work instructions including Quality Management Systems and developing long range goals and objectives
- Conduct EOS L10 meetings with department personnel on a periodic basis
- Serve on Managers Committee
- Provide cross training to department personnel
- Serve as trainer, mentor and coach in the development of all subordinates
- Assist in maintaining safe practices for all employees
- Maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment by following the 5S principles
- Maintain formal budgets for your departments
- Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed
- Member of the APQP team
RESPONSIBILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND AUTHORITY:
- Support production of profitable product
- Responsible to determine the disposition of questionable product
- Responsible to resolve customer complaints
- Responsible for the maintenance and administration of the Quality & Environmental Management System
- Responsible for smooth launch of new product
- Responsible to ensure that the Environmental Calendar is updated and maintained
- Responsible for keeping the department updated on the latest technology available
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Quality Department
- Responsible for communicating to all disciplines within Rima as well as to Rima customers
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employee will be exposed to the noise, fumes and temperature extremes typically found in a light manufacturing environment. Risk of injury from being in close proximity of operating machinery is possible, but unlikely if proper safety precautions are followed. Lifting requirements for this position dictate that the employee must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 35# on a repetitive basis and 50# on an occasional basis.
All employees must wear PPE which includes hearing protection and safety glasses, both of which are provided by RIMA, and slip resistant shoes which the employee provides.
