The Role
The Quality Operations Associate is the person who makes sure that every product leaving this facility is exactly what we told the customer it would be. You'll perform in-process and finished product testing, inspect incoming materials, verify conformity at critical control points, and maintain pristine documentation.
This is detail work and it is repetitive, and that's the point. Consistency is how we catch problems before they become bigger ones. The value isn't in the excitement of the work - though the days when the line is running at eleven and your job is to keep it at ten have their own kind of thrill. It's in the kind of person who finds satisfaction in getting it exactly right, every time, because the product depends on it.
But this role isn't just following a checklist. You're the person on the floor who notices that a fill weight is drifting before it's out of spec. You're the person who catches a date code discrepancy on incoming packaging before it reaches the line. You're the person who flags something that looks off even when you can't immediately articulate why - because you've developed an instinct for when something isn't right, and you trust it. The best QC people we've had don't wait to be told what to check. They see the whole floor.
You'll be joining a small, experienced Quality team at a fast-growing operation. Your work will be visible and your impact immediate. There are multiple promotion pathways - into running a lab into compliance and quality management systems, into process engineering, into safety and compliance - and we actively train and promote from within. Every process improvement you document, every SOP you help build, every person you train creates the infrastructure that makes the next promotion possible. You advance by building the system that runs without you, and the pace is yours to set.
About Very Good
We run bottling and canning for the biggest spirits and beverage brands in the world - names you'd recognize on any back bar. The mission is operational excellence: make excellent products, and continuously improve how we make them. It's relentlessly challenging and a lot of fun.
Our best hires have come from a wide variety of backgrounds: restaurant kitchens and event production, craft brewing and pharmaceuticals, fabrication shops and military logistics, photography studios and software startups. What they share isn't a résumé or a single career path - it's a mindset: they notice what others miss, they care whether the thing they just did is actually right, and they don't walk past problems.
They don't ask whether something is good enough. They ask how it can be better.
Some of our best QC work has come from people who had never stepped inside a lab before their first day here. If your background is non-traditional but this description sounds like you, please apply.
What You’ll Do
Perform in-process and finished product quality checks across production lines - Brix, pH, ABV, fill weight, turbidity - and flag any deviation from spec immediately.
Conduct receiving inspections on incoming raw materials and packaging components. You're verifying date codes, lot codes, fill levels, weights, and overall condition against spec - and you're the last line of defense before materials enter production.
Follow product-specific QC SOPs at critical control points. Maintain batch sheets, product quality logs, and daily QC documentation in compliance with HACCP, GMP, and FDA standards. The documentation isn't paperwork - it's the proof that we did what we said we'd do.
Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections every shift. Evaluate raw and finished case goods - verifying packaging integrity and conformity before product leaves the facility.
Enforce ingredient storage, handling, and usage standards across the facility. When something is wrong, say so - clearly, immediately, to whoever needs to hear it, regardless of seniority.
About You
We're looking for someone who is sharp, motivated, and genuinely interested in understanding how things work and why they work that way. If you're meticulous and eager to learn, we'll teach you the rest.
What matters to us:
You have an exceptionally high attention to detail - not the kind you put on a résumé, the kind that kept forty tickets straight during a Friday night rush, or caught a mismatched serial number on a packing slip that three other people missed, or noticed that the color on a print proof was slightly off from the approved sample. The kind where "close enough" has never sat right with you.
You communicate clearly and directly. When you find something wrong, you say so - verbally, in writing, without hesitation and without hedging. You don't wait for someone else to notice. You don't soften bad news into ambiguity.
You're comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment where priorities can shift quickly, and you don't need every day to go according to plan to feel good about your work. The days that go sideways are normal days here. If you can stay focused and precise when things get interesting, you'll thrive.
You follow processes exactly - and when you think a process could be better, you say that too. We don't want people who follow a procedure they know is broken because "it's the procedure." We want people who follow the current best-known process and propose the upgrade when they find one.
Backgrounds that often produce great QC people:
Lab experience, food safety knowledge, HACCP familiarity - these are all useful and will accelerate your ramp-up. But they aren't prerequisites. We've found that the right disposition matters more than the right credentials, every time.
Work Environment
You will work in an active manufacturing and warehouse facility, moving through production lines, lab areas, and shipping/receiving docks. The role is physically demanding; expect to be on your feet for 8+ hours, lift and carry things, and work in variable temperature conditions. PPE is required and will be provided.
