Quality Technician – Aerospace Manufacturing / FAA Part 145 Repair Station
Position Title: Quality Technician

Reports To: Director of Quality
Position Summary
The Quality Technician provides technical and administrative support to the Quality organization by assisting with inspection preparation, First Article Inspection (FAI/FPI) documentation, calibration tracking, quality records management, and audit support. This position supports both aerospace manufacturing operations and FAA Part 145 repair station activities.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & FAI Support
- Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspections on aerospace parts, assemblies, and repairs in accordance with company procedures, engineering drawings, and technical data using precision tools and other measuring equipment.
- Verify compliance with FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 43, Part 65, and Part 145 requirements.
- Review and validate work orders, repair documentation, certifications, and traceability.

· Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
Calibration & Measurement System Support
· Assist with calibration verification activities and proper handling of measuring equipment.
· Assist with maintaining calibration records and equipment labeling.
· Identify out‑of‑tolerance events and escalate to Quality Management.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Complete all inspection documentation accurately, including inspection reports, and nonconformance records.
- Ensure proper completion of FAA forms such as 8130‑3 Airworthiness Approval Tags, where authorized.
- Maintain organized, compliant quality records in accordance with AS9100, FAA, and company retention policies.
· Organize and archive quality records in accordance with retention requirements.
· Prepare First Piece / First Article Inspection (FPI/FAI) packages in accordance with AS9102 and internal procedures.
Audit Preparation & Support (AS9100/ FAA Part 145)
· Assemble objective evidence for audits
· Support internal audits, customer audits, and FAA inspections
· Retrieve records during live audits
· Assist with audit action items and closure evidence
Nonconformance & Corrective Action
- Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials or processes.
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and assist in evaluating disposition recommendations.
· Collect supporting data and documentation.
· Upload evidence into corrective action systems.
Regulatory & Standards Compliance
- Ensure adherence to:
- FAA Part 145 Repair Station Manual (RSM)
- Quality Control Manual (QCM)
- AS9100 / ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Customer and OEM specifications
- Participate in internal audits, FAA audits, and customer audits as needed.
General Duties
- Maintain calibration verification of inspection tools and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and management teams.
- Uphold safety standards and contribute to a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
Required
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2–5 years of inspection experience in aerospace manufacturing or FAA repair station environment.
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations, aerospace documentation, and airworthiness requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical manuals, and OEM specifications.
- Proficiency using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, borescopes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality system requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
Preferred
- Experience working in an AS9100‑certified environment.
- Experience reviewing FAA 8130‑3 forms.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for documentation and traceability.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Certification in GD&T, NDT, or inspection methodologies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Perform detailed visual inspections with or without corrective lenses.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and repair station environment with exposure to moving machinery, chemicals, and shop noise.
