Quality Technician- CMM Experience Required

Mission Statement Support

This position supports the Youngers & Sons mission statement by ensuring that customer product specifications and standards are met and exceeded through the development and implementation of quality control systems, programs, records, education of employees, and by monitoring production quality.

Essential Responsibilities (this is only an estimate and may vary)

1. 50% On shop floor to perform part inspections to the print and other applicable specifications for Receiving, First part, In Process, Final, Pre-Outside Processing, and Final product.

2. 20% Maintain and improve the Gage Management System including calibration, documentation, training, input on purchasing, and gage maintenance.

3. 20% Document, track, and report nonconformance’s so that corrective and preventive actions can be taken to eliminate the causes. Also, assist in the determination of root causes and corrective and preventive actions.

4. 10% CMM programming.

Job Tasks:

1. Be an integral part of the setup process by identifying and setting gauges that are needed for upcoming work orders.

2. Inspect parts per the prints (first part buy off, in process, final inspection and outside processes) and other applicable specifications.

3. Clean and calibrate inspection, measuring and test equipment.

4. Document internal, customer and vendor nonconformance’s using the NCMR form, doc. # FR-14-01 and inform affected functions and departments of the occurrences.

5. Clean the lab, QC staging area and the QC nonconforming hold areas.

6. Send inspection, measuring and test equipment out for calibration.

7. Participate in Internal Audits.

8. Create CMM programs for checking parts.

9. Create shop prints and 3D models for engineering, shop floor personal and QA.

10. Complete ISIR’s for customers.

11. Deal with customers on any issues that may arise (issues RGA when necessary).

12. Contact customers for engineering deviations.

13. Contact vendors on discrepant material.

Essential Skill and Requirements:

Training:

  • Ability to complete training and attend seminars as needed.

Safety:

  • Required use of safety glasses and other safety devices deemed necessary.

Other:

  • Occasional overtime including weekends when scheduled.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a team environment.

Education:

  • High school education or the equivalent required.
  • ASQ (American Society for Quality) CQT (Certified Quality Technician) - preferred

Skills:

  • Detailed in blueprint reading and use of inspection, measuring, and test equipment
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Intermediate computer, math, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of CMM’s and CAD program
  • Microsoft Office
  • Solidworks
  • Clypso (preferred)

Experience:

  • Floor experience to include operating various CNC equipment
  • Use of InFiSy software
  • Calipers, dial gauges

License:

  • Forklift Safety Training Certification - preferred

Physical:

  • Ability to independently move up to 70 pounds in the course of daily part inspections.
  • Ability to bend, squat, lift, and carry while being manual dexterous.
  • Ability to access stairs occasionally.
