The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. The role ensures that projects are completed within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. The Quantity Surveyor will handle cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, valuation of works, and cost reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Preferred to be in western region area, Abu Dhabi.

Key Responsibilities Pre-Contract Stage

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents based on drawings and specifications.
  • Analyze and compare contractor quotations and participate in bid evaluation.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing contract agreements and procurement documentation.
  • Advise on cost planning, value engineering, and budget feasibility during project design stages.

Post-Contract Stage

  • Prepare and issue interim payment applications and valuations for completed works.
  • Monitor and control project costs against the approved budget.
  • Evaluate variations, claims, and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Conduct site measurements and verify quantities for progress payments.
  • Maintain cash flow forecasts, cost reports, and financial statements for management.
  • Negotiate and agree on final accounts with contractors and clients.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure effective cost control and project delivery.
  • Provide cost-related advice to the Project Manager and Engineering Teams.
  • Support procurement and subcontractor management by preparing tender packages and evaluating bids.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, project specifications, and local regulations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 3–8 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, cost control, or commercial management (depending on level).
  • Experience in building, infrastructure, or civil projects preferred.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Member of RICS, AIQS, or equivalent professional body (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with FIDIC, JCT, or other standard contract forms.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Candy, Primavera, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costing techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of contract law, tendering, and procurement processes.
