This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of construction economics, and extensive knowledge of cost control practices within diverse project sectors including healthcare, commercial, residential, and industrial developments.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered within budget, while maintaining quality and compliance with regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering value and efficiency on construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects, based on architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Manage project budgets and provide regular financial reports, forecasting costs and identifying potential savings or overruns.
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure cost-effective procurement and compliance with project specifications.
  • Monitor project expenditures, perform cost value reconciliations, and ensure accurate allocation of costs across different work packages.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, verify claims, and ensure alignment between actual construction and planned financial targets.
  • Prepare, analyze, and manage tender documentation and contract terms in coordination with legal and procurement teams.
  • Administer contracts and manage change control processes, including variations, claims, and final accounts settlement.
  • Support project risk management by identifying potential cost risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Provide advice on contractual matters, cost control procedures, and procurement strategies to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental guidelines in relation to cost planning and project delivery.
  • Work closely with the Resident Engineer and construction team to assess project performance and align financial goals with construction timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of all contractual and financial project information for audit and reporting purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost management within the construction or engineering sector.
  • Proven expertise in cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and commercial project management.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing trends in the local and international markets.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, WinQS, Candy) and general project management tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership or certification (e.g., MRICS, RICS, CIQS, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC and other standard forms of contract is an advantage.
