Quantity Surveyor cum Assistant Planning Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking for Quantity Surveyor to join our project team in Dubai. The ideal candidate must have experience in high-rise building construction and be well-versed in cost control, contract administration, and project financial management from pre-contract to post-contract stages.

Key Responsibilities (QS)

  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and tender documentation for high-rise projects
  • Monitor project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow throughout the construction phase
  • Evaluate and certify interim payment applications and final accounts
  • Assess variations, claims, and change orders, including negotiation with subcontractors and consultants
  • Prepare and review subcontract agreements and ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Conduct measurement and re-measurement of works based on drawings and site conditions
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Consultants on cost-related matters
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, and commercial summaries for management
  • Ensure adherence to FIDIC contract conditions and UAE construction regulations
  • Support dispute resolution, claims preparation, and commercial risk management

Key Responsibilities (Assistant Planning Engineer)

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive construction schedules, including detailed work breakdown structures, resource allocation, and critical path analysis.
  • Utilize advanced scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) to create and manage project plans.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, including architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
  • Monitor project progress, analyze performance metrics, and generate regular progress reports for management.
  • Implement effective change management processes to accommodate project modifications.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior planning team members.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of Quantity Surveying/Planning Engineer experience in high-rise building projects
  • Proven experience working in the UAE or GCC construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, UAE construction laws, and procurement processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and cost control software
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and reporting skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Main Contractor or Large Developer projects
  • Strong understanding of structural, architectural, and MEP quantities
  • Familiarity with value engineering and cost optimization techniques
  • Effective communication skills for coordination with stakeholders
