Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented QuickBooks Accountant to join our financial team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks, to manage and streamline financial processes for diverse clients and projects. Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks using QuickBooks and other financial software such as Xero, Sage, and PeopleSoft.
- Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including Excel data analysis using functions like VLOOKUP and pivot tables, to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards relevant to nonprofit, governmental, or corporate accounting environments.
- Generate accurate financial statements, reports, and summaries for management review and external reporting purposes.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements such as tax filings, regulatory compliance accounting, and audit preparations.
- Mentor junior team members on best practices in bookkeeping, double-entry bookkeeping, technical accounting concepts, and the use of various financial software tools.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong background in bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks is essential; familiarity with Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or Quicken is a plus.
- Solid understanding of GAAP principles, SOX compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account analysis using Excel functions such as VLOOKUP and data analysis techniques.
- Experience with financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, accrual accounting, and cash flow analysis.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) or governmental accounting is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for mentoring team members and interpreting complex financial data clearly.
