Job Summary:
The Level 3 ERRCS Technician (Tech III) is a senior field technician role responsible for the advanced installation, testing, and maintenance of Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems (ERRCS) and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). This position serves as a bridge between field operations and the engineering team. The Tech III demonstrates strong technical proficiency in field testing and troubleshooting, supports commissioning activities, ensures compliance with AHJ requirements, and plays a key role in improving the quality of client-facing deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
Field Operations & Testing
- Perform RF Site Surveys, Grid Testing, and Antenna Path Testing.
- Conduct Preventative Maintenance, Annual inspections, & 3rd Party inspections for ERRCS/DAS systems.
- Identify system faults and assist in field-level troubleshooting and resolution.
- Document test results, system performance data, and field observations accurately.
System Installation Support
- Install RF components, including coaxial cable terminations, fiber optic patch cords, antennas, splitters, and BDAs.
- Direct and coordinate subcontractors to ensure SOW is completed accurately, safely, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Ensure all field work meets company standards and jurisdictional code compliance.
- Assist with donor antenna alignment and isolation validation.
Quality Control & Client Deliverables
- Responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of test and inspection reports.
- Work with team members to improve documentation practices and reporting quality.
- Oversee the enhancement of deliverables provided to clients, ensuring professional presentation and technical clarity.
- Provide feedback and support to technicians and engineers to elevate report quality across the department.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work with Engineers and Project Managers to coordinate field activities and testing schedules.
- Communicate field issues effectively to design and engineering staff.
- Support Engineers during commissioning by collecting required field data and photos.
Equipment & Tools
- Use and maintain RF testing equipment, including spectrum analyzers, signal strength meters, and sweep testers.
- Keep tools and equipment in proper working condition and follow safety protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in ERRCS/DAS installation and field testing.
- Strong understanding of ERRCS components and signal path concepts.
- Familiarity with basic AHJ requirements, NFPA/IFC codes, and FCC Part 90 regulations.
- Proficient with test equipment such as Anritsu spectrum analyzer, PCTEL IBflex scanner, or equivalent.
- Ability to read construction drawings, riser diagrams, and basic RF layouts.
- Demonstrated attention to detail in report writing and documentation.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred; OSHA 30 a plus.
- Willingness to travel to job sites and perform physically demanding tasks, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Some college preferred (not required)
Experience:
- 2-3 years experience in RF or ERRCS industry
