Summary:
Provides general non-technical assistance to the Radiology staff. Responsible for transporting patients to/from the Radiology department.
Position Reports To: Radiology Manager
Essential Functions:
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills.

Verify correctness of patient by utilizing two patient identifiers.

Transport patients to and from Radiology in a safe and efficient manner. Transport with appropriate awareness of uniqueness of patient, ranging from infant to adult.

Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions. Lifts patients as needed and when this can be accomplished safely and according to policy. Transfers patients using safe ergonomic technique and utilizes the hydraulic lift or other safe patient handling devices and the patient's family members or caregivers when necessary.

Monitors portable oxygen tanks to assure adequate supply is available and ready for use.

Cleans wheelchairs and carts daily and between each patient’s use.

Follows protocol for proper patient hand-off with nursing staff to include documentation in EMR.

Understands various patient monitoring systems and disconnects/connects patients to various systems, i.e. telemetry, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeters, and oxygen supply.

Assists with answering phone and basic scheduler and coordinator support as needed.

Understands and follows all universal blood and body substance precautions, airborne pathogen precautions, and personal protective equipment requirements.

Complies with all required MRI department-specific safety education and training programs. Adheres to MRI safety when in MRI.

Participate in Quality Improvement Programs.

Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely and communicate effectively in written form.
A working knowledge of computers, accurate keyboarding skills, and email communication.
Good time management and prioritization skills.
