R&D Assembly Lab Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented R&D Assembly Lab Technician to join our innovative research and development team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the assembly, testing, and analysis of prototypes and experimental products within our laboratory environment. Responsibilities

We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician to support the fabrication and post processing of metallic frame components and cardiovascular implants. This is a hands on role focused on precision manufacturing of implantable medical devices using advanced processes and materials in a regulated environment.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, collaborative, and comfortable thinking creatively alongside engineers to develop fixtures, improve processes, and transfer clear instructions to operator staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture prototypes out of metallic frame components and cardiovascular implants in accordance with established work instructions and quality requirements
  • Operate and support laser cutting processes for metallic tubing and sheet components
  • Perform post processing of laser cut components, including cleaning, inspection, and preparation for downstream operations
  • Execute shape setting processes, including fixture loading, oven operation, and thermal processing
  • Perform electropolishing and related chemical finishing processes to meet dimensional and surface finish requirements
  • Support additional chemical processes such as etching and passivation as required
  • Collaborate with engineers to think creatively and develop or improve fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing methods
  • Provide input on manufacturability, process improvements, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Transfer knowledge, processes, and work instructions effectively to operator and manufacturing staff
  • Inspect components using visual and basic measurement tools to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Document manufacturing activities in batch records, travelers, and logs in compliance with quality system requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with safety and compliance standards

Required Qualifications

  • Hands on experience in manufacturing metallic components in a medical device or precision manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with laser cutting, shape setting, and post processing of laser cut components
  • Experience performing electropolishing or similar chemical surface finishing processes
  • Knowledge of implantable materials such as Nitinol, stainless steel, and other biomedical alloys
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and quality documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
  • Comfortable working in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and production staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience manufacturing cardiovascular or implantable medical devices
  • Experience supporting fixture development or modification
  • Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges
  • Experience training or mentoring operators and transferring technical knowledge
  • Familiarity with additional implantable metals (e.g., SS, CoCr, Pt Ir)
  • Understanding of GMP and medical device quality systems

Working Environment

  • Hands on shop and lab based manufacturing role
  • Exposure to laser systems, ovens, and chemical processing equipment
  • Use of PPE and adherence to safety and contamination control protocols required

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
