Job Description
We’re searching for an
R&D Engineer
who’s ready to dive into the world of algae biotechnology!
At Kybele’s Garden, you’ll be hands-on with algae cultivation, fermentation, and bioponic systems, turning bold ideas into sustainable innovations.

Grow, harvest, and transform algae into next gen bioproducts

Design and run fermentation experiments, track performance, and optimize results

Support daily lab operations — from sterilization to data collection

Take part in R&D projects from concept to reporting, presenting your results along the way

Collaborate with a dynamic, interdisciplinary team driving the future of sustainable biotech
Required Skills
-
Perform laboratory studies under sterile conditions, including microbial and algal culture preparation, maintenance, and analysis.

Conduct seed culture preparation and scale-up operations from shaker systems to benchtop fermenters.

Monitor growth performance, productivity, and quality parameters of microbial and algal cultures.
-
Execute fermentation processes and support optimization studies for strain performance and process efficiency.

Operate, maintain, and clean laboratory and fermentation equipment in compliance with hygiene and safety standards.

Follow experimental protocols, record observations accurately, and support result interpretation.

Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 22000 requirements

Communicate effectively in both written and spoken
English
Required Experience
-
Degree in
Food Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, Molecular Biology, Fisheries Engineering, or a related field
-
Hands-on experience in
microbiology, fermentation, or bioprocess operations
under sterile conditions
-
Familiarity with algae cultivation or microbial production systems is a strong advantage
-
Experience or familiarity with experimental design and optimization techniques (e.g., DoE) is a strong advantage
-
Ability to prepare and maintain cultures, monitor growth, and follow standard laboratory procedures
-
Experience with seed culture maintenance, media preparation, and sterile handling techniques
-
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, basic instrumentation, and safety protocols
-
Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and adherence to procedures

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in
English

Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel) for data recording and reporting
