R&D Lab Technician (Entry Level)

Electric Cable Compounds (ECC) is a growing company that manufactures specialty rubber compounds for the wire and cable industry. We are looking for highly motivated individuals that are goal and results oriented with an emphasis on “safety,” “quality” and “productivity”. Must be a “team player” and exhibit a positive attitude.

This is an entry level position. The employee works in a learning capacity while performing a range of laboratory technician assignments under close supervision and to provide support in various areas as needed.

Responsibilities:

· Perform routine laboratory procedures such as: preparation of raw materials, weighing, mixing, milling, extrusion, and compression molding.

· Conducts a variety of routine laboratory tests using standard testing procedures including but not limited to: Specific Gravity, Oscillating Disc Rheometer, MDR viscosity, Physical Properties, Hot Creep Elongation, Hot Set, Melt Flow Index, and Limiting Oxygen Index.

· Assists more experienced personnel in performing more complex testing procedures.

· Maintains simple laboratory records.

· Maintains a clean work area, equipment, and instruments in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures.

Requirements:

· High school diploma.

· Must be dependable and have driver’s license and transportation.

· Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

· Ability to work independently and as a team member.

· Strong computer and math skills.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Accuracy and attention to detail.

· Strong mechanical aptitude.

· Eye for detail.

· Outstanding housekeeping skills.

· Comprehension of Safety Data Sheets

Physical Demands:

Normal laboratory requirements must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, tolerate odors, and be able to lift 50lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
