Job Description

Meghna Colour Chem Pvt. Ltd., a leading pigment and specialty color manufacturer, is expanding into Natural Food Colors & Botanical Extracts. We are looking for an experienced R&D Scientist to lead the development of plant-based colors for food, beverages, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

This role will build the foundation of our natural color R&D lab and scale formulations from laboratory to commercial production.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop natural colors and extracts from sources like turmeric, paprika, beetroot, annatto, spirulina, butterfly pea, chlorophyll, etc.

• Design extraction, purification and stabilization processes

• Improve shade strength, heat stability, pH stability, and shelf life

• Work on powder & liquid formulations (spray dried, oil dispersible, water soluble)

• Scale-up processes from lab to pilot and plant level

• Maintain documentation, SOPs, COAs and technical data sheets

• Support regulatory compliance (FSSAI, FDA, EU where required)

• Work closely with production and quality teams

Required Qualifications

• MSc / PhD in Chemistry, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or Natural Products

• 3–10 years experience in natural food colors, plant extracts, herbal or dye chemistry

• Experience with solvent extraction, spray drying, concentration, stabilization

• Understanding of food grade and cosmetic grade compliance

• Experience in working in R&D lab and production scale-up
