We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient care, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment specializing in general dentistry. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and medical documentation standards. Experience with EMR systems such as Open Dental is preferred. The role requires adherence to HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining a sterile environment through aseptic techniques.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, extractions, and endodontic treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring proper sterilization and infection control
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable
- Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Open Dental
- Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients as they arrive and preparing them for examinations
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Perform chairside assisting using proper aseptic techniques and dental terminology
- Educate patients on procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient information as a dental receptionist if needed
- Ensure all clinical equipment is functioning properly and assist with inventory management of dental supplies
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred
- Knowledge of EMR systems such as Open Dental is advantageous
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and procedures involving pediatrics is a plus
- Experience with dental X-ray procedures, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, taking vital signs, and medical coding
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently across various specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics
