New City Homes has an immediate need for a knowledgeable, personable, and highly organized Accounting Manager or Controller to handle the day-to-day accounting operations for our team. The ideal candidate must be very organized, with a high attention to detail. Every day you will be responsible for the financial well-being of our organization, with your efforts directly contributing to company performance as well as the positive and tangible change throughout the neighborhoods of Columbus.

Position Role and Responsibility – Accounting Manager/Controller

Responsibilities

  • Own the accounting function end-to-end.
  • Multi-entity QBO account management.
  • Complete weekly cash forecasting reports to plan for upcoming accounts payable needs.
  • Supervise and train 3rd party bookkeepers.
  • Manage 3rd party billing software and create entries in QBO.
  • Perform month-end closing procedure for all operating accounts.
  • Perform year-end closing and tax prep activities.
  • Deal directly with banks, vendors, etc. either by telephone or electronically.
  • Enter weekly bank deposits.
  • Payroll entries in QBO.
  • Enter properties in QBO as fixed assets and construction-in-progress.
  • Enter property purchases and sales in QBO.
  • Analyze credit card statements and submit breakdown for payment.
  • Manage mortgage payments (enter principal/interest splits and maintain memorized transactions).
  • Completion of year-end tax forms such as 1099 NEC, 1099 INT, 1098 Mort Int.
  • Maintain and update departmental KPI's.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and rent roll.
  • Assist with other reporting and projects as requested by various departments.
  • Respond promptly to team member questions when issues are elevated.
  • File all electronic paperwork.

Position Qualification

  • Candidates with a minimum two years' experience in a similar role with a real estate investment company will be given higher consideration.
  • Strong accounting skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum two years' experience with A/P.
  • Attention to detail and high level of organization.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook. Excel proficiency above mid-level.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve and learn quickly.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Due to the high ethical nature of this position, candidates must pass an extensive credit and background check. Candidates with low credit, prior evictions, or criminal convictions of any kind will not be considered.

  • Salaried position
  • Health Insurance with HSA option (Dental add-on available for additional expense)
  • Paid Time Off & Holidays: 6 days PTO annually, major holidays, and a minimum of 2 weeks vacation earned on an accrual basis.
  • Desktop PC provided for remote work.

Employment Type/Time: Full-time. Some flexibility to choose your own schedule: Start between 8AM-9AM and end between 5PM-6PM Monday-Friday.

Place of Work: Remote - but must be within driving distance of Columbus, Ohio, as there may be occasions when on-site meetings are needed.

Compensation: Negotiable based on qualifications. Target $90,000-$110,000 per year.
