Job Summary As the Assistant Controller, you will support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of properties. You will assist with month-end close, financial statement preparation and review, reconciliations, and audit support while helping maintain strong internal controls and accurate reporting.

This role requires hands-on property accounting experience, strong attention to detail (including small variances), working knowledge of Yardi, and the ability to collaborate effectively across accounting, asset management, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in overseeing accounting operations for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
Prepare and review journal entries, reclasses, accruals, and month-end close schedules.
Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
Perform and review bank reconciliations, cash activity, and general ledger reconciliations.
Monitor property-level financial performance and assist with variance analysis and budget tracking.
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to requests.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
Collaborate with property management and asset management teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
Assist in training and supporting property accountants as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

2–3 years of experience in real estate or property management accounting required.
Solid understanding of GAAP and property-level accounting principles.
Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close.
Working knowledge of Yardi property management software required.
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, professional approach.
High level of integrity and accountability.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Prior experience as a Senior Accountant, Property Accountant, or similar role preferred.
Experience with multifamily or commercial real estate portfolios strongly preferred.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
