(Anticipated Hiring Range $31.97-33.59/hour)This is a part-time, 19-hour per week, non-benefited positionPositions assigned to this class assist with the daily operation of the Real Time Crime Center by performing technology-based investigative work. Responsible for conducting real time assessments and supporting priority calls for service by gathering and disseminating critical information in real time back to first responders and public safety supervisors who are responsible for the management of public safety emergencies.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Monitor and operate Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) technology systems, including public safety cameras, automated license plate readers (ALPR), computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and other law enforcement databases to support active incidents and investigations.Provide real-time information and intelligence to police officers and command staff during active calls for service, critical incidents, and emergency situations.Research and analyze information from multiple law enforcement systems to assist officers in identifying suspects, vehicles, and relevant incident details.Utilize video surveillance systems and mapping technologies to track suspect activity, locate vehicles or individuals, and relay actionable information to field personnel.Conduct database queries in accordance with criminal justice information system (CJIS) policies and department procedures.Monitor multiple information sources simultaneously and rapidly evaluate incoming data to support officer safety and situational awareness.Document activities, intelligence findings, and relevant information in department systems to support investigations and case follow-up; Prepare reports, summaries, and alerts related to RTCC activities, crime trends, or emerging incidents.Coordinate with dispatch, patrol officers, detectives, and other law enforcement personnel to provide timely and accurate information during incidents.Maintain strict confidentiality and security of sensitive law enforcement information.Assist with locating stolen vehicles, wanted persons, missing persons, and other investigative leads using available technologies and intelligence
tools.Support special events, critical incidents, and large-scale operations through enhanced monitoring and intelligence gathering.Perform other duties as assigned in support of police operations and public safety
initiatives.Support the City’s policies, goals and objectives and work with management and other staff to ethically achieve such goals and objectives; ensure compliance with safety procedures.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSDemonstrated Knowledge of: City, State, Federal, and Department procedures, policies and guidelines; City Code; Chain of command protocol; Arizona Revised Statutes, and the Arizona Victims’ Bill of Rights.Principles and practices of law enforcement operations and public safety communications.Real Time Crime Center technologies, including video surveillance systems, automated license plate readers (ALPR), mapping tools, and other intelligence
platforms.Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), and other law enforcement databases.Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) security policies and requirements.Basic investigative and intelligence-gathering techniques used to support police operations.Geographic features, major roadways, and locations within the city and surrounding areas.Department policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws related to law enforcement data access and confidentiality.Skill in: Operating multiple computer systems, databases, and technology platforms simultaneously.Analyzing and interpreting information quickly and accurately in real-time situations.Communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with police personnel and other public safety partners.Managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.Preparing reports, documentation, and summaries related to RTCC activities and incidents.Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail when entering or retrieving information from law enforcement systems.LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidates who are selected for appointment may be fingerprinted, if 18 or older; successfully complete a background investigation, employment verification and may be subject to a drug test, medical, polygraph and/or psychological evaluation. Candidates who are appointed will be required to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle in Arizona or meet the transportation needs of the position.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed primarily in a secure Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) office environment. The position requires extended periods of sitting while monitoring multiple computer screens, video surveillance systems, and other law enforcement technology platforms. Frequent use of computers and communications equipment is required.The position may involve exposure to graphic or emotionally sensitive information and requires the ability to remain focused while monitoring multiple information sources. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying items up to 25 pounds may be required. Shift work, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during critical incidents, may be necessary.
