Rebar Installer (Steel Fixer)

A steel fixer (also called a rebar worker) is a skilled construction worker responsible for preparing and installing steel reinforcement used in concrete structures.

Job Description:
A steel fixer reads construction drawings and places steel bars (rebar) and mesh in the correct position to strengthen concrete elements such as foundations, columns, beams, and slabs. They cut, bend, and tie steel bars using the proper tools and techniques, ensuring everything is fixed securely before concrete is poured.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret structural drawings and bending schedules
• Cut and bend steel bars to required sizes and shapes
• Fix and tie reinforcement bars and mesh using wire
• Position reinforcement accurately within formwork
• Ensure proper spacing, alignment, and support (using spacers/chairs)
• Work closely with engineers and supervisors
• Follow safety standards on site
