Duties
- Assist in monitoring network traffic using SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools to identify potential threats and anomalies.
- Support vulnerability management efforts by conducting vulnerability assessments and research on emerging threats using industry-standard frameworks such as NIST standards and ISO 27000 series.
- Contribute to system security plans by helping implement system hardening techniques across various operating systems including Linux (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Windows, and macOS.
- Aid in incident response activities by analyzing logs, supporting incident recovery procedures, and documenting findings for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to support the configuration and management of firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), VPNs, and other network security devices like Cisco ISE.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of secure IT infrastructure including LAN, WAN, SAN, cloud architecture (AWS, Google Cloud Platform), and virtualization platforms such as VMware or vSphere.
- Support compliance efforts related to cybersecurity standards such as FedRAMP, PCI DSS, FISMA, DIACAP, RMF (Risk Management Framework), COBIT, and GPO (Group Policy Objects).
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of computer networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), DHCP, DNS, IPsec VPNs, load balancing, and network protocols.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM platforms (Splunk or SolarWinds), log analysis software like Fiddler or New Relic, and open-source scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation tasks.
- Knowledge of security standards, including NIST standards, ISO 27000 series (ISO <LOCATION>), PCI DSS requirements, and FIPS compliance.
- Exposure to IT infrastructure components such as firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS systems, LDAP/Active Directory for identity & access management; cloud computing environments like AWS or Azure is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail in vulnerability research and threat detection & response activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an Agile environment while managing multiple priorities effectively. Pay: $89,134.45 - $107,344.71 per year
