Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Office Receptionist to join our healthcare team! Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly, verify their insurance coverage, and assist with appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and professionally.
  • Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance verification, and handle medical billing and collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records by reviewing documentation, updating medical information, and ensuring proper filing of medical records using systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
  • Assist with medical administrative support tasks including data entry, appointment reminders, and managing clinic flow to optimize patient care delivery.
  • Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating care plans, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
  • Ensure confidentiality of health information in accordance with HIPAA standards while managing electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Meditech or Athenahealth.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with familiarity in clinic operations and front desk responsibilities.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, EHR systems (Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks), dental management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft), and multi-line phone systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding for documentation review and billing purposes.
  • Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred; office management or administrative experience is advantageous.
