Job Description

We are seeking a courteous and compassionate Receptionist & Patient Counsellor to join our hospital team. This role is responsible for managing front-desk operations while providing guidance and support to patients and their families. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth patient flow, accurate information sharing, and a positive patient experience from arrival to discharge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Medical Social Work (MSW), Life Sciences, or a related healthcare field
• Diploma or certification in Patient Counselling or Healthcare Administration is an added advantage
• Prior experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare environment preferred (freshers may also apply)
• Knowledge of patient counselling practices, medical ethics, and confidentiality standards
• Basic computer proficiency (MS Office / Hospital Management Systems)

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors and assist with registration and inquiries
• Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
• Answer and route phone calls professionally
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure data confidentiality
• Guide patients through hospital procedures, services, and departments
• Counsel patients regarding treatment processes, billing, and follow-up care
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff
• Handle billing queries and basic insurance information when required
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area

Requirements & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is an advantage
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate, patient-focused attitude
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure
• Basic computer skills (MS Office / Hospital Management Systems)
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
