Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Coordinator – Assistant Facility Supervisor. The scheduled work hours for this position are Tuesday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are looking for
We’re looking for a dedicated team member who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, excels at building positive relationships, and thrives in a collaborative, communicative environment. In this role, you will manage room rentals, coordinate children’s birthday parties, support the facility maintenance plan, oversee organized recreation activities, supervise staff, and ensure the facility remains a safe and welcoming space for all. Minimum qualifications
  • An Associate’s Degree in Recreation or related field; and
  • 2 years of experience in recreation, including 1 year of supervisory experience; and
  • A First Aid/CPR/AED certification; and
  • A valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field
  • Experience using recreation management and registration software
  • Experience creating facility use permits
  • Experience in staff recruitment, training, and professional development
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months, should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
